The theatre is located in the downtown district. There are numerous restaurants, clubs, and retail stores within walking distance. The area has a fantastic paved walking trail along the Monogahela River, four blocks away and the Hazel Ruby McQuain Park and Amphitheater is there also. West Virginia University campus is six blocks away.
There is no theatre parking lot, contact the theatre manager and let him know what the show is traveling in so parking arrangements can be made.
Theatre Information
Other Important Information The Metropolitan Theatre supports the arts community and its talent, therefore the theatre, as a rule, does not allow any photography, nor audio or video recording. If a theatre staff member sees a patron recording the show, the staff member will ask the patron to stop, a second offense and the staff member will remove the patron or turn the incident over to security. The theatre staff does not have the right to confiscate the recorded material or film, only the artists management would have that right to pursue the matter legally. The only exception would be persons hired by the artist or his or her management staff and the theatres house photographer. The theatre manager will ask permission of the artist and his or her tour management for publicity photos to be taken. These photos may be posted in the theatre lobby, on the theatre website or in future promotional advertisements. At no time will these photos, audio or video recordings be sold.
The Metropolitan Theatre is a smoke-free facility, smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the building and we ask that all artists and their staff respect this rule.
Pyrotechnics are not allowed in the theatre. Hazers and fog machines are allowed, but please notify the theatre manager so smoke detectors are not triggered.
There are city and state taxes that must be paid by any event that sells tickets. The information for the applicable taxes would be available from the city accounting office.
