Early lack of love sets limits on how long we live, what illnesses we fall prey to and how happy our lives will be. If we cannot get real love we seek secondary compensations such as overeating, power-seeking and drug-taking, which help to push down the early deprivations. It seems too much or too risky to face the old pains, but avoidance has a cost. (more…)

Lead the Pack and Leave the Pack Behind. Part 1

Monday, May 31, is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) World No-Tobacco Day. The theme for the event is “Leave the Pack Behind.” The WHO is taking the global initiative to reduce the epidemic of tobacco-related illnesses and deaths. One of the most effective ways to do this is to encourage current cigarette smokers and smokeless tobacco users to quit using tobacco products. If we do not reduce the number of tobacco users now, 500 million people who are alive today will eventually be killed by their tobacco habit. (more…)
